Los Angeles Training on New Rules for Shipment of Dangerous Goods by Air

Toxic, flammable, corrosive, radioactive, explosive and other dangerous goods are shipped by air millions of times each year. Many of them are carried in passenger aircraft or with freight carriers. To improve the safety of these shipments, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is adopting tougher standards for many of the items frequently shipped.
To help shippers of dangerous goods by air and sea in the Los Angeles area comply
with the tougher standards, Environmental Resource Center is offering training at
the Crowne Plaza Hotel – Los Angeles International Airport on March 24, 2010. For
those who cannot attend, an online webcast is also available.
Among the changes being adopted in 2010, to be covered in the training, include new
and revised packing instructions, revisions to the list of dangerous goods, new
requirements for shipments of excepted (small) quantities, and revised requirements
for lithium batteries.
Included with the class are the 51st Edition of the Dangerous Goods Regulations,
Environmental Resource Center’s Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Compliance with
IATA and IMO Regulations handbook, which translates the regulations into easy-to-
understand language, and an Emergency Response Guidebook.
A DOT and RCRA Annual Update and Refresher Course will be held the same week at the
Crowne Plaza Hotel – Los Angeles International Airport on March 23, 2010.
